Ultraformer MPT SMAS lift: benefits and features of the procedure

There are many myths surrounding non-surgical SMAS lifting. Some call it a substitute for plastic surgery; others consider it a painful procedure of dubious effectiveness. In this article, specialists from the GENEVITY Longevity and Quality of Life Center in Dnipro explain what facial SMAS lifting is, how Ultraformer MPT works, who it suits, and what results to expect.

What is SMAS lifting and how does Ultraformer MPT affect the deep layers of tissue?

SMAS lifting is a lift performed at the level of the SMAS, which supports the soft tissues of the face. For this, Ultraformer MPT uses focused ultrasound that acts on the musculoaponeurotic layer without incisions or damage to the skin surface. Essentially, ultrasound SMAS lifting is a technique of device-based facial cosmetology that involves controlled action on deep tissues using focused ultrasound energy.

At the focal points, micro-zones of thermal coagulation are formed. Under the influence of heat, collagen fibers contract, and the synthesis of new collagen is subsequently activated. Some changes are visible right after the procedure, while the main lifting effect develops gradually over 2–3 months.

How does Ultraformer MPT differ from earlier SMAS lifting devices?

Ultraformer MPT gives the doctor more options for precisely tailoring the procedure to different areas of the face. The device works at several depths and has two ultrasound delivery modes. This makes it possible to work separately with superficial tissues, deeper layers of the dermis, and the SMAS, without using the same parameters for the entire face.

Compared with earlier generations, Ultraformer MPT delivers pulses faster and allows tissues to be treated more evenly. This shortens the duration of the procedure, helps control the intensity of exposure more precisely in different areas, and makes the session more comfortable.

GENEVITY cosmetologist’s comment: “Before the procedure, we mark the face and determine the depth at which we need to work in each area. For example, around the eyes we use a more superficial effect, while in the lower third of the face we can work deeper.”

Who is Ultraformer MPT SMAS lifting suitable for and which areas can be treated?

Ultraformer MPT is most often recommended after age 35, although when choosing the procedure, what matters more than the age from which it is performed is the initial condition of the tissues and the severity of ptosis.

Indications for the face, neck, and décolleté

A cosmetologist may recommend Ultraformer MPT for the following changes:

  • sagging of the soft tissues of the face and neck;

  • an indistinct jawline, jowls, and excess tissue in the chin area;

  • pronounced nasolabial folds and marionette lines;

  • downturned corners of the mouth and tissue overhanging the upper third of the face;

  • laxity of the skin of the neck and décolleté.

The procedure is not performed during pregnancy and lactation, in the presence of active infections and skin inflammation, active-phase oncological diseases, or metal implants or threads in the treatment area. A pacemaker is a separate contraindication.

Using Ultraformer MPT for the body

Ultraformer MPT is also used in device-based body cosmetology for skin laxity, reduced firmness, and ptosis, including after weight loss. The procedure is performed on the abdomen, thighs, inner arms and legs, knees, neck, and décolleté.

How is the Ultraformer MPT procedure performed, how many sessions are needed, and when are results visible?

Ultraformer MPT requires no special preparation. A session lasts approximately 45–90 minutes depending on the area. The Ultraformer MPT procedure is usually well tolerated and is not accompanied by severe pain. During the delivery of ultrasound pulses, warmth, tingling, or brief discomfort may be felt in sensitive areas.

For the face, one session is usually enough. The first changes may be visible immediately, the main result develops over 2–3 months, and it lasts up to 12–18 months. If necessary, the procedure is repeated after about a year. You can return to your normal routine immediately after the session.

GENEVITY cosmetologist’s comment: “Ultraformer MPT combines well with contouring, but sequence matters. First we lift the tissues with ultrasound, and then, if necessary, we restore volume with fillers.”

Benefits of SMAS lifting at the GENEVITY Longevity and Quality of Life Center

At the GENEVITY Longevity and Quality of Life Center in Dnipro, Ultraformer MPT parameters are selected individually, taking into account the anatomy and condition of the tissues. When indicated, the doctor includes SMAS lifting in comprehensive device-based cosmetology programs and combines it with other techniques, including EMFACE or EMSCULPT NEO. After the procedure, a follow-up consultation is provided to assess the result.
