How the Laser Works on Scar Tissue
A scar differs from healthy skin in its architecture: the collagen fibres lie in parallel bundles instead of weaving into a mesh. That makes scar tissue denser, less elastic, and different in the way it reflects light — which is why a scar stays visible even when its relief is slight. Laser scar resurfacing acts on that structure. The CO₂ laser beam creates microscopic columns of heating in the tissue and leaves intact areas between them. Part of the old collagen matrix breaks down and new collagen is synthesised in its place — this time with a normal, interwoven fibre arrangement. How Laser Scar Resurfacing Works
Assessment and scar typing

The scar must be fully healed, which takes at least 6 months. The best window for laser work is 6 to 18 months, while the tissue is still remodelling actively and responds better. Older scars can be treated too — they simply need more sessions.
Redness and swelling last 2-4 days and light flaking up to 7 days. The exact timeframe depends on the depth of the chosen mode: gentle work on a normotrophic scar heals faster than deep treatment of an atrophic one. For a month afterwards the area must be protected with SPF 50.
