Facial Mesotherapy: Skin Recovery After Summer and Sun Exposure

After summer, skin often looks dehydrated and dull, its tone becomes uneven, and its firmness decreases. Ultraviolet radiation, heat, and dry air weaken the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Mesotherapy helps restore its condition. In this article, specialists from the GENEVITY Longevity and Quality of Life Center explain what mesotherapy is, what cocktail composition is chosen after the sunny season, how the procedure is performed, and what you should not do after mesotherapy.

Facial mesotherapy: what is it and how does it help after sun exposure?

Mesotherapy is a method of injectable cosmetology in which micro-doses of vitamins, amino acids, peptides, and minerals are introduced into the middle layer of the skin. In this way, the active components bypass the stratum corneum and reach fibroblasts directly — the cells that synthesize collagen and elastin.

After summer, mesotherapy is often prescribed to eliminate dehydration, even out skin tone, and restore the skin’s natural radiance. Cocktails with antioxidants help cope with the effects of sun exposure.

GENEVITY cosmetologist’s comment: “Even a high-quality cosmetic serum works mainly in the superficial layers of the skin. During mesotherapy, we deliver active substances to where the main metabolic processes take place.”

What composition of vitamin cocktail is chosen for skin after summer?

“Vitamin cocktail” is a simplified name. The composition of a mesocktail is usually broader, and the doctor selects it individually depending on the skin type and the goals. For recovery after the sunny season, it may include:

  • vitamins — support metabolism in cells;

  • amino acids — necessary for protein synthesis, including collagen;

  • peptides — regulate cellular processes;

  • minerals and trace elements — participate in enzymatic reactions;

  • antioxidants — help protect cells from oxidative stress.

GENEVITY cosmetologist’s comment: “After summer, two patients’ skin may look similar but need different components. In one, dehydration predominates; in another, uneven tone after tanning. That is why we determine the composition of the cocktail only after an examination.”

How is facial mesotherapy performed and when should you assess the result?

Before the procedure, the doctor assesses the condition of the skin, determines the injection areas, and selects the composition of the cocktail. Then topical anesthesia is applied to the face for 20–40 minutes. The cocktail is administered by micro-injections to a depth of 1–4 mm. A session lasts 30–50 minutes.

Mesotherapy is performed as a course of 4–6 procedures at intervals of 10–14 days. The first changes are usually noticeable after 2–3 procedures, but it is better to compare the results of facial mesotherapy before and after once the course is completed.

If the skin needs more active stimulation of regenerative processes, the doctor may suggest other injectable techniques, for example PRP therapy.

Face after mesotherapy: normal reactions and care rules

For 1–3 days after the procedure, small papules and redness may remain at the injection sites, and bruises sometimes appear. Such reactions are considered normal and go away on their own.

For the skin to recover without complications, you should observe several restrictions after the procedure. You must not:

  • apply makeup or wash with hot water for 24 hours;

  • visit a sauna or pool, exercise intensively, or drink alcohol for 48 hours;

  • use acids and scrubs for a week.

A mandatory condition of care is a daily sunscreen with SPF at any time of year.

Benefits of post-heat mesotherapy at the GENEVITY Longevity and Quality of Life Center

At the GENEVITY Longevity and Quality of Life Center, mesotherapy is performed by dermatologists and cosmetologists using certified preparations. The composition of the cocktail is selected individually, taking into account the condition and needs of the skin. Mesotherapy does not increase photosensitivity, so in autumn a course can be started right after a vacation. If necessary, the procedure is combined with biorevitalization, peels, or device-based techniques. If deeper regeneration is needed, the doctor may consider stem cell therapy. A post-summer skin recovery program is created after a consultation and examination at the GENEVITY center in Dnipro.
